What’s a secret skill or ability you have or wish you had?
Like many card-carrying members of modern society, I proudly hold an Amazon Prime membership. Which means, naturally, I can have just about anything my heart (or impulse control) desires delivered to my doorstep in record time. Need paper towels? Done. A last-minute birthday gift? Covered. A random 2 a.m. purchase I’ll question in the morning? Already out for delivery.
At some point, we’ll unpack my relationship with Amazon a little more—because, trust me, there’s a story there. But for today, just know: I’m a frequent flyer.
So when I sat down with this prompt, my mind wandered like it usually does. Sure, I’d love to read minds (strategically, of course). I wouldn’t hate waking up with effortlessly perfect Pinterest hair. Baking something edible—consistently—would be a win. And yes, I stand by my lifelong dream of sharing a few cocktails with Kenny Chesney on a beach somewhere.
But instead of typing any of that, I found myself entering two simple words into the Amazon search bar:
Thick Skin.
According to vocabulary.com, “thick skin” means being emotionally resilient, mentally tough, and not easily rattled by criticism, rejection, or the occasional unnecessary comment that somehow sticks longer than it should.
In other words, I’d like to glide through life a little less ruffled. A little less reactive. A little more…unbothered.
That’s it. That’s the wish.
It doesn’t feel like a big ask, honestly. Not compared to mind-reading or mastering the perfect sourdough. Just the ability to let things roll off a bit easier. To not carry what was never mine to begin with.
And if Amazon happens to have that in stock? Even better.
I’d gladly pay the extra $2.99 for same-day delivery—somewhere between 4 and 8 p.m. would be perfect.
Because while I’m still a work in progress, I have a feeling this is one package worth waiting for.
Lol, love this. I am not a big Amazon shopper, but if I could find it in a small local discount store I might be persuaded to buy it. But a little bit of thin skin isn’t so bad. It reminds me I am not all sarcasm and ” who cares” attitude…I mean, mostly, but not all. Lol

Great lead-in with Amazon. Have you looked? They may have it. Never mind, it is probably on the dark web and not something you really need.

Dude… I so love Amazon… how did I ever survive without it? And I absolutely can’t imagine life without it now… haha I get stuff weekly lol… most recently this week… an ab roller & mat… 40 lb dumbbell set… face wash… aspirin… cheap Amazon brand body lotion… coffee… protein powder 🥳😁

This is what I’m talking about. Anything and everything can arrive on your doorstep! OMG making the Amazon guy deliver the 40 lb weights! lol (btw I used 40s for a farmers carry at gym on Monday morning).

Karen, so funny! “Amazon’s Choice” for thick skins… “Order now and receive by Thursday, March 26” 😂
I’m sorta the opposite… after almost 40 years working for Dunder Mifflin and hearing the boy cry wolf uncounted times (“They’re gonna HATE this pitch!”… “I heard layoffs are coming!” … “We’re having a corporate audit!”) I am very jaded. Yeah, yeah. So go ahead, gimme your best insult or passive aggressive schtick … yawn 🥱😂

Listen if I thought it existed I’d own it. Lol I’m a dangerous shopper. This will be apparent in next months blog about decluttering. Ha!

You’re ‘thin-skinned’ because you care deeply. That can’t be wrong. I would say you don’t need a thicker skin, you just need shields around you to protect you from some of the criticism, rejection, and unnecessary comments.

My wife has Amazon Prime, and I have Walmart+. You don’t need anything else in the universe if you have those two. 😂 By the way, I checked on Amazon, and Thick Skin is on sale. 🤣

Thank you so much. You’re right. I do care deeply. Probably too much but that’s who I am. Sometimes I care more for others and ignore myself which is a whole other show and order from Amazon. lol
Thank you for reading and checking in! ❤️

I do like Amazon and it’s obvious from the comments I’m not alone. I love that he took ten years to make a net profit, that’s tenacity and belief. Thick skin? I’m not too sure. Don’t people with thick skin get more criticism, rejection and comments?😂 “Don’t worry about upsetting her/him she’s/he’s got thick skin.” (See how I got the pronouns right?) But it’s a lovey thought, Karen 😊

That is a good thing to have! I’m not sure any of us have it, we just learn how to walk away. Sometimes literally, other times mentally. Doesn’t give things time or a place to stick around.

I love the way that sounds. Not having time to stick around and FESTER is a great thing. Fester = mold in my opinion!
Hope your week is going great Rosie! ❤️

Perhaps “Thick Skin,” should it ever become available on Prime, could get our elected officials out of the “sandbox” and to the “adult table.” I’m a cockeyes optimist.

Oh Amazon, living on an island means “oh just look at Amazon tomorrow it’ll be here” dangerous but convenient. 😊

It is oh so convenient! Perhaps they will try out their drone service on your island! There is so much chatter here about it.
